- The primary function of a capacitor contactor is to switch capacitors in and out of an electrical circuit, when the power factor is within an acceptable range, the contactor disconnects the capacitors. Some capacitor contactors can also be operated manually. This is useful for maintenance or troubleshooting purposes when it’s necessary to isolate the capacitors from the circuit.
