Product Description :
- It is a small but crucial component in an internal combustion engine. It’s used to secure the piston pin (also called the wrist pin) in place within the piston and prevent it from sliding out during engine operation.
- It is a cylindrical rod that connects the piston to the connecting rod, allowing the piston to pivot around it as it moves up and down within the cylinder bore. The piston pin retainer is typically a small, circular or semi-circular metal clip that fits into a groove machined into the piston pin bore of the piston.
- It is inserted through the small end of the connecting rod and into the piston. Once the piston pin is in place, the piston pin retainer is installed into the groove in the piston pin bore, effectively locking the piston pin in place. This ensures that the piston pin remains securely seated within the piston during the engine’s operation, preventing any lateral movement that could cause engine damage.
