Schneider Electric LRD21 Thermal Overload Relay
Schneider Electric LRD21 Thermal Overload Relay
Product Description :
- It is a protective device used in electrical systems to protect electric motors and other equipment from overheating and damage caused by excessive currents. It operates based on the principle that excessive current flowing through a motor causes it to heat up, potentially leading to insulation damage or mechanical failure.
- The core component is one or more bimetallic strips. These strips are made of two different metals with different coefficients of thermal expansion bonded together. When heated, the metals expand at different rates, causing the strip to bend.
- They have contacts that open or close based on the status of the bimetallic strips or heater elements. When the relay detects overheating (excessive current), it trips and opens the contacts to disconnect power to the motor or equipment.
- It provides a thermal adjustment dial, a manual-automatic reset selector, a test selector for simulation of a tripping, reset and stop buttons, a flag indicator and 2 auxiliary contacts 1NO+1NC for fault signaling.
-
A Thermal Overload Relay is an electromechanical protective device designed to protect electric motors from damage due to overload or phase failure. It detects excessive current caused by motor overheating and interrupts the circuit, preventing motor burnout and ensuring safe operation.
-
Constructed with high-quality bimetallic elements and durable housing, thermal overload relays provide reliable, long-lasting performance in industrial and commercial applications. They are often used in conjunction with contactors for motor control circuits.
