- It s a specialized type of ball bearing designed to support axial loads in addition to radial loads. Unlike standard ball bearings, which primarily support radial loads, angular contact ball bearings are designed with raceways that have a contact angle between the balls and the races. This angular contact allows the bearing to support both axial (thrust) and radial loads.
- They ball bearings can be preloaded to increase stiffness and reduce internal clearance, which improves their performance in high-speed and precision applications.
- They correspond, in their design and operation, to a pair of single row angular contact ball bearings in a back-to-back arrangement, while requiring less axial space.
